Awards History
Ora Burnett Jazz Award and Noel Burnett Tap Award
The Auckland Caledonian Dancing Society is extremely thankful for the support of the
Burnett Charitable Trust of the senior tap and jazz award.
The Burnett Charitable Trust was founded in 1993 with the estate of Noel Burnett, a successful businessman and entrepreneur.
Noel and his wife Ora Burnett did not have any children of their own,
so their wishes were to establish the Trust to support New Zealand youth in sporting and educational pursuits.
The Trust has supported a wide variety of youth activities, both team and individual,
often to help athletes attend international events or competitions, but also for local sporting and educational facilities.

Peacocke Dance Trust Ballet Award
Formerly the Sir John Logan Campbell Ballet Award
The Auckland Caledonian Dancing Society is very grateful to be supported by The Peacocke Dance Trust. New Zealand born Professor Emeritus Hilary Peacocke Le Mieux was very much respected for her knowledge and teaching in the principles of choreography and production techniques.
Her passion for dance led to the creation of a legacy Dance Trust, supporting and funding the next generation of up and coming dancers and choreographers. The Peacocke Dance Trust Ballet Award is open to NZ citizens or permanent NZ residents aged 15 and under 21 years.
Competitors attend a technical class and perform two classical variations. Finalists are then chosen by the adjudicator and dance their two variations again in the final gala evening.
